VR Headsets dead in 2025?

We all know that VR(Virtual Reality) Headsets help us to step in the Metaverse. VR headsets are amazing in the way that they completely take over your vision to give you the impression that you’re somewhere else.

But I hate VR headset!

Yes, many people including me hate heavy and fugly looking gigantic binoculars on their faces.

So i don’t think VR is future. Well the current version of VR headset is not the future but it is certainly the foundation for future VR Headsets.

Take cue from history friends…

This is exactly what people said for clumsy and heavy mobile phones with big antennas in 1990s. And this is what Kodak said for Digital Camera

Iconically this is what IBM said for computers.

Thomas J. Watson Jr. of I.B.M. is said to have opined in 1943 that, “I think there is a world market for about five computers.”

My Prediction for VR by 2025 and 2028

I’m going out on a limb here and claim that one day VR headset would be a tiny contact lens and/or a stylish sunglasses — a VR Tinyset if you will. And that one day would be 2025. And by 2028, it would be economical and widespread just like an android phone.

Mind you, above prediction is conservative looking at the computing power rapid growth every year, AI/ML algorithms evolution and ultimately the sheer passion and grit of my fellow engineers. Who know but may be my predictions might come true in 2024!

I can’t wait to wear my VR tinysets

I have my list of fun activities already prepared that I’m going to do everyday. One that randomly comes to my mind is “Writing this essay on the shores of Lake Geneva overlooked by the Alps while the Sun sets in the background and I feel the cold breeze ruffling my hair”. Well if just the thought can make me write such good lines, then imagine what would i write if would actually be in such a Metaverse. Crazy!
